SAVING
In
Portugal there is no law for wooden boats protection. Any
how the authorities which
control the demolishing
of the boats have the aim to preserve some of them.
So instead of demolishing all the boats it is possible to give some
to schools, associations or
groups which ask them for
cultural purposes.
One
only needs to write them
asking for one of the boats
that is going to be destroyed !
But
saving a boat from being destroyed is only the first steep
and then what
to do with it ?
Set it out in the garden ?
Inside a museum?
Turn it in object of
decoration?
A boat out of the water,
without a function is not any
longer a boat .As a part of the coast
culture wooden boats protection means giving them
a function and a place in the modern society.
Creating activities where
they can go on being boats
and giving people pleasure
